Searching for a lawyer can be stressful. There are 72,000 lawyers in the New York State Bar Association alone. How does a New Yorker go about finding the right attorney for their legal needs?
Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) is offering a new online service to make the search easier. New Yorkers can now seek legal help without having to make a phone call or spend hours on Google or Yelp. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Prospective clients fill out a confidential questionnaire concerning their legal needs and issues. Staff from the State Bar will then match the client with a lawyer located in or near their community. If the individual does not live near a lawyer who is a member of the bar, LRIS will forward the request to the correct county bar association.
